What is ABA?

Backed by research, proven by results

Applied Behavior Analysis is a therapy approach that teaches new skills and reduces challenging behaviors, by understanding what motivates your child.
ABA therapists break down complex skills into small, manageable steps and use positive reinforcement to help new behaviors stick.

At Kennedy ABA, children with ASD thrive because we blend clinical science with genuine care and years of experience.

“The skills they're teaching are life-saving. Teaching safety awareness, communication, independence — these are the foundations everything else builds on."
“She smiles now. She wants to play and pulls us towards a toy, or to the door to go outside. She wants us in her world and that’s everything. ABA opened the door to her world.”
“Within a month of starting ABA, Amy was smiling and just a much happier kid. It wasn’t long before she began to dress herself each day.”
“He used to have no sense of danger, and safety was one of our biggest concerns. Now he understands boundaries like the importance of being safe on the playground and around cars. You can’t imagine the relief!”

How it works

ABA roadmap to progress

01

Start — it’s simple

We start with a conversation about your child and your family's needs. No pressure or obligation, just empathy, answers and understanding.
Start — it’s simple
02

Assess — to inform planning

Next, a BCBA assesses your child to pinpoint their ability level and which barriers need to be overcome. Based on this, we work together to create a therapy plan.
Assess — to inform planning
03

Therapy — where the magic happens

Once authorized by your insurance, we put the plan into action. A friendly, caring RBT comes to your home for regular therapy sessions, teaching your child the essential skills they need.

Progress — let’s celebrate it!

We're with you all the way; tracking progress, celebrating wins, and adapting the therapy plan as your child grows.

Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve got the answers

How do I know if my child needs ABA therapy?

If your child has an autism diagnosis, or is struggling with communication, social interaction, daily routines, or behavioral challenges, ABA can help. Children can benefit from ABA therapy at any stage of development, but early intervention often yields the best outcomes. Our BCBA will conduct a comprehensive assessment to determine your child’s specific needs and create a personalized plan.

Will insurance cover my child's ABA therapy in North Carolina, Georgia & Virginia?

In North Carolina, Georgia & Virginia, Medicaid and most major insurance providers cover ABA therapy for children with an autism diagnosis, as it’s recognized as a medically necessary treatment. We work with all major insurers and handle the entire approval process for you, from initial authorization to ongoing claims management. Our team will verify your benefits upfront so you know exactly what to expect, with no surprise costs later on. Just reach out to start or if you have any questions.

How long does ABA therapy typically take to show results?

Every child progresses at their own pace, but many families begin seeing positive changes within the first few weeks. Small breakthroughs often happen first – better eye contact, following simple instructions, or reduced meltdowns. More significant milestones like improved communication and independence typically develop over months. With our above-standard BCBA supervision, we track progress closely and adjust strategies to keep up the momentum consistently.

Will I be involved in my child's therapy?

Yes, very much so. In our experience, ABA is most effective when families and therapists work as a unified team. Together, we’ll set goals that are important to you, discuss progress and setbacks, and celebrate wins!

Our RBTs provide direct therapy right at home, so you can participate in sessions as often as you want. We also offer comprehensive parent training so you can learn the strategies we’re using to support your child’s progress throughout the day.

Our testimonials

Clients praise our creative and effective strategies.

Kennedy ABA is simply outstanding. Our RBT is warm, patient, and incredibly skilled at making ABA therapy fun and effective. My child adores her and has made amazing progress in communication, emotional regulation, and independence. Kennedy truly cares, communicates clearly with parents, and celebrates every win. We couldn’t ask for a better therapist—she’s part of our family now. Highly recommend! 💙
- Robert Burgos
Our pediatrician, Dr. Schneer, strongly recommended Kennedy ABA when we first learned about ABA therapy (we had never even heard of it before). We’re so glad we listened. The BCBA and RBT were amazing, the process was smooth, and while it didn’t happen overnight, we’ve seen real progress over time. We couldn’t be more grateful to both our doctor and Kennedy ABA. 🍀💛
- Jazmin
We left our old ABA provider because of constant staffing issues and canceled sessions. I was dreading the switch, since it usually means weeks without therapy. Somehow, Kennedy ABA got both of my kids started with only a two-day gap! The therapists are great, super consistent, and progress is finally happening again. Best move ever! 🎯
- Nelson Mongare
I have to shout out our RBT, Kayla—she is absolutely incredible. Last week, she surprised our 8-year-old son by turning our regular Friday therapy session into a full-on birthday party, complete with balloons, cupcakes, a sensory-friendly “pin the tail” game, and even a little gift bag. He was smiling and laughing the entire time, which is something we rarely see with new activities or people. THANK YOU!
- Ninoshka Balado
Honestly, the greatest therapist we have ever encountered. From the beginning until now, we have only been happy with the results. They take great care of our family, and our grandparents love them as well. ❤️❤️❤️
- Emiliano martinez
We moved from South Carolina to NC and honestly I was freaking out about starting over with new ABA therapy 😅 My son LOVED his old therapists and I didn’t think we’d find that again. Our provider back in SC told me to try Kennedy ABA and wow… best advice ever. Everyone’s been sooo kind and my son clicked with his new therapist right away. Feels like such a blessing after the move ❤️
- William Douglas
We did center-based ABA for over a year, but never felt truly involved and saw slow progress. Since switching to Kennedy ABA’s in-home program 2 months ago, our son has made more gains, in communication, routines, and behavior, than in the entire previous year. We can participate, learn the strategies, and use them all day. The therapists are excellent, and truly partner with us……
- Jernaija Burr
We’ve been with Kennedy ABA for several years. Our home has beautiful white carpets and rugs that we keep spotless, so we were nervous about therapists coming in and possibly not following our “shoes-off” rule. But the therapist they sent was incredible, super accommodating, respectful, and thoughtful from day one. She made every visit comfortable and stress-free. The personalized in-home ABA therapy has led to wonderful progress for our child, and the team’s compassion and expertise make all the difference. If you’re looking for quality, respectful in-home autism therapy, Kennedy ABA is exceptional. recommend! So great 😃
- Aliaksandr Dubrova
The care coordinator, Jessica, took really good care of our child. Highly recommend! Good people!
- Eli Zylberberg
Best ABA agency, hands down! They have exceeded all our expectations. Can’t recommend them enough!
- Dovid Rudnicki
Kennedy ABA has been amazing for our family. The therapists are so patient, caring, and really know what they’re doing. Our child has made so much progress since starting in-home ABA, and we feel so supported every step of the way. The team really takes the time to work with parents too and teach us how to help our child succeed. We are very grateful for Kennedy ABA and the difference they’ve made in our lives. ❤️

Their team is professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely dedicated to the children and families they serve. From intake to ongoing services, communication is clear and supportive, and you can tell they truly value ethical, evidence-based practice. The staff are compassionate, well-trained, and committed to helping clients make meaningful progress. It’s easy to see why Kennedy ABA has such a strong reputation in the field. Highly recommend!
- Isiah Esmaiel
Oh man, sensory stuff was a huge issue for my little guy before Kennedy ABA. He’d freak out over loud noises, tags in clothes, even certain foods textures, total meltdowns everytime we went to the store or tried new things. The therapists are amazing tho, they do these sensory-friendly games and activities right in our house, like deep pressure hugs, weighted stuff, and fun calm-down tools that help him regulate. Now hes way better at handlin crowds and tryin new foods without screaming. Its been a game changer, less stress for all of us!!
- Abdullah Ali
Excellent place. They take such good care of my grandkids. We had been searching for quite a while and finally came across Kennedy. We will keep everyone updated, as we just started a few months ago.
- Emmy Umahi
Kennedy ABA is legit AMAZING. My 4-year-old went from zero words to actually talking in about eight months, and meltdowns barely happen now. Miss Sarah is an angel 😭. They truly get your child, and the parent training actually works. Do the free consult—you won’t regret it. 10/10!!
- Breyon Dixon
Kennedy ABA has truly been a game changer for our daughter. After years of trying different options and never feeling fully satisfied, their in-home approach made all the difference. We couldn’t be happier.
- Dov Gurewicz
I have recommended this place to so many people. Kennedy ABA’s dedication to their patients is unmatched. They are fueled by the desire to be the best they can be, and that is truly the most important aspect of any relationship—especially when dealing with a healthcare provider. Keep being the Kennedy ABA everyone loves.

Loving the no-travel vibe with Kennedy ABA, my son’s hyperactivity doesn’t spike like it used to on car rides. Sara went above and beyond on January 22nd: made a custom visual schedule after a rough morning, then stayed extra to model block play and spark his imagination. Compared to other places we’ve been, the attention to behaviors, sensory needs, and just being kind makes all the difference. Professional, caring, effective. Would give 10 stars if I could!
- Tenae Holder-kirton
Kennedy ABA has been absolutely incredible. From the very first call, the team was kind, responsive, and truly invested in our child’s success. The therapists are patient, knowledgeable, and go above and beyond to make learning fun and meaningful. We’ve seen real progress, not just in skills, but in confidence and happiness. It’s clear that Kennedy ABA genuinely cares about families and provides high-quality, individualized support. We’re so grateful to be working with them and highly recommend Kennedy ABA to any family looking for exceptional ABA services.

Our son Mike is 5, Level 2 ASD, and has sooo much energy. We tried a center in Charllete first and it just wasnt working. The mornings were chaotic and the transitions were really hard on him. It was honestly exausting for our family. Switching to in-home ABA with Kennedy was the best decison. He's calmer at home and we're seeing real improvment. The team is patient and truly cares. So greatful we made the change.
- khalil massieh
Our daughter, Jacqueline, has come so far, and we’re so thankful for the Kennedy team. Big shoutout to Rebecca, her RBT—she’s been absolutely wonderful with her. Couldn’t ask for better people. ❤️
- Davian glenn
They are very hands-on with the children, using one-on-one techniques to ensure each child’s needs are met.
- Vickie Pettigrew
The service at Kennedy was second to none. Highly recommend!!!
