Daycare ABA therapy for children with autism
Circle time just got a new helper
Your child’s therapist comes to daycare, so they can work on big skills somewhere between snack time and story time.
Same daycare, same friends, a little extra help
Daycare ABA therapy means your child’s Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) joins them at daycare or preschool. They sit next to your child at circle time, help out at the snack table and head outside with them for recess. A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) writes your child’s plan and keeps an eye on how it’s going.
Your child keeps their cubby, their teacher and their favorite friend from the block corner. They just have someone with them who knows exactly what they’re working on.
Why the sandbox makes a great classroom
From sharing the blocks to zipping up a coat
Your child’s BCBA builds goals around your child. At daycare, that might mean:
- Asking for a turn, a snack or help, with words, signs or a device
- Playing next to other kids, and then with them
- Following the teacher’s directions
- Coming in from the playground without a meltdown
- Sitting through circle time and story time
- Washing hands, eating lunch and using the potty
- Calming down after a hard moment
Made for little ones ages 2 to 6
Toddlers and preschoolers learn fast, and daycare gives them lots of chances to practice. Starting ABA early also gives your child a head start on kindergarten. Our early intervention specialists work with little ones every day, and they love it.
How we join the daycare crew
- Say hi: Call or fill out the form. and tell us about your child and their daycare.
- Check in with the daycare: We’ll help you ask the director about having a therapist come in. Every daycare has its own rules, and we’re happy to answer their questions.
- Meet your BCBA: Your BCBA gets to know your child, talks with you and writes a treatment plan.
- Insurance: We verify your benefits, request authorization and let you know whether your plan covers sessions at daycare.
- Off to daycare Your child’s RBT starts sessions, and your BCBA tracks progress and updates the plan as your child learns.
Your child keeps their cubby, their teacher and their favorite friend from the block corner. They just have someone with them who knows exactly what they’re working on.

Daycare ABA therapy FAQs
Questions from daycare parents
Will my child’s daycare let a therapist come in?
Lots of daycares do, but it’s up to each one. We’ll help you talk with the director and answer any questions they have.
Does insurance cover ABA at daycare?
It depends on your plan. Some cover sessions outside the home and some have limits, so we check before therapy starts.
Can my child have sessions at daycare and at home?
Yes. Some families do both. Your BCBA will recommend what works best for your child.
Will the other kids notice?
Your child’s RBT joins in with regular daycare activities, so to most kids, it just looks like an extra grown-up who’s fun to play with.
How old does my child need to be?
Daycare ABA is usually for kids ages 2 to 6. If your child is younger or older, call us and we’ll talk about the best fit.
Do we need an autism diagnosis first?
Most insurance plans need one before ABA can start. If your child hasn’t been evaluated yet, we offer autism assessments.
